Joni Russell

Picture

Joni is a biblical counselor with five years of experience and is completing her practicum toward a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (spring graduation). She blends practical counseling tools such as attachment theory (building secure relationships), client-centered care (creating a warm, accepting environment), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (helping clients clarify values and live authentically) with a faith-based approach that invites the Holy Spirit to guide the process.
Spiritual formation is central to Joni’s work with Christian clients.

Drawing from her spiritual direction training, she hopes to help clients deepen their relationship with God, discover their identity in Christ, and experience healing through His grace. She believes true transformation comes when we encounter God as our ultimate secure base and live from that place of love and acceptance.
Joni has specialized training in trauma, sexual violence, and domestic violence, is completing training through the Gottman Institute for couples work, and is earning certification as a spiritual director. She also serves at Moody Online, a branch of Moody Bible Institute, as assistant to the dean, faculty success coordinator, and adjunct professor.

Joni has two adult children who are the lights of her life. She enjoys audiobooks, her dogs, and time in nature, and is passionate about helping others experience a loving relationship with Christ.
